About CDR

Founding

Founded by Brady and Debbie Siegal in 2017, Charleston Dragon Robotics has quickly grown to be one of the largest robotics organizations in the state of South Carolina. CDR began with one FLL level team and has added on average more than one team each year. The Siegal family saw the need for equitable access to high quality robotics when their eldest son began competing as a student. Realizing that many students didn’t have access to quality STEM education Debbie and Brady began coaching one team of middle school students. Now, seven years later, Charleston Dragon Robotics has served hundreds of students and is expanding with satellite teams outside of the Lowcountry. Although CDR has grown quickly it has maintained its founders’ vision in providing high quality, affordable STEM education in a fun, safe environment. Becoming a 501c3 non-profit organization in 2020 has allowed CDR to continue to expand and grow an experienced and passionate volunteer staff who are dedicated to raising up the next generation of STEM professionals and world leaders.
