A Dragon’s first Byte of Robotics
Dragon Bytes teams introduce elementary age, K-4th grade students to STEM in a fun and challenging environment. Students meet for twelve weeks. Four weeks are spent on core values, four weeks on design and four weeks on Lego build and coding. Dragon Bytes teams are grouped in similar age groups and kept small so that coaches and mentors can offer focused guidance and support. Dragon Bytes season concludes with a fun showcase where students get to demonstrate all they have learned.
Overview
The most amazing little dragons are our Bytes students. Made up of students in K-4, Dragon Bytes meet for twelve weeks giving students a fun and education-packed introduction to robotics and STEM. Bytes students spend four weeks having fun working on core values and teamwork, four weeks learning about design and build and four weeks on coding. Their season finale is a showcase of everything they have learned for their family and friends.
Core Values
Dragon Bytes teams are about more than just fun with Legos (although there is a LOT of that happening). Our Bytes students learn all about team work through diving into the core values established by First Inspires.
- Discovery: Exploring new skills and ideas.
- Innovation: Using creativity and persistence to solve problems.
- Impact: Applying what we learn to improve our world.
- Inclusion: Respecting each other and embracing differences.
- Teamwork: Being stronger when working together.
- Fun: Enjoying and celebrating what we do

Design
Building on children’s natural curiosity and out of the box thinking. Bytes students dive into what makes a good design. Students learn to work together to consider and refine creative solutions.

Build and Programming
Even our early elementary students amaze us with their ability to understand and implement basic programming concepts. Paired with the fun of building with Legos, students explore the basics of coding using a Spike Essential robot.

More Than Robots
Dragon Bytes is about so much more than building a robot. It is about growing curious and creative kids who are ready to change the world.
